One of the national-level museums of India, the Allahabad Museum is situated inside the famous Chandrashekhar Azad Park. With the famous planetarium also situated here, this double-storey mansion was personally designed by Motilal Nehru. The confluence of Three RiversĪnother magnificent spectacle that one can look for, is the gigantic confluence or Sangam of three rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati. Also, common Hindu believers perform poojas like Rudrabhishekam, Ekadash Rudrabhishekam Pooja, Ekadasa Rudrabhishekam Yagya, and others. It is a very mystical experience to watch different ritualistic poojas that are performed by the Pundits here. In Hindu Mythology, it is believed that bathing in Triveni Sangam during Kumbh Mela, cleanses the body and soul while promising the attainment of self-liberation. The world’s famous gathering Kumbh Mela takes place every 12 years and the Triveni Sangam is one of the four places where Kumbh Mela (Gathering) is celebrated. Legends also state that just one dip in the holy waters can help a person significantly in improving their Karma and help them attain Moksha. Perhaps this is another reason why Kumbh Mela is also organized here. Apart from being the holy confluence, it is also considered the place where the drops of nectar had fallen during the Amrit Manthan. This exact place where it happens is called Triveni Sangam because it is the point of amalgamation of the three holy rivers. Prayaga is the name of the ancient city of Allahabad.
