I've found the easiest way to use the crop tool is to place your finger near the small circle located on each corner of the document, each one doubling as a magnifying glass. With a note open, tap on the camera icon then Scan Documents. I created a folder called Scanned Documents where I can store and easily find anything I've scanned. Open the Notes app and either create a new note or open an existing note. Place the document(s) on a flat surface, in a well-lit area. Manual mode provides extra control over the scanning of documents, although you need to tap the shutter button. Sometimes this automatic mode causes unexpected results by scanning documents that you didn’t really want scanned! In that case, tap the “Auto” button at the top of the scanning window and select “Manual”. Continue as needed until all pages of the document are scanned. If you have a second page, place it in front of the scanner and scan it. See the shutter button at the bottom of the screen? If you’re holding the iPhone or iPad steady, you don’t even need to touch it to scan the image - you’ll see a “flash” on the screen to indicate that the scan has taken place.
